Update Special Pricing

New module for PumperNickel

This module allows you to amend existing special prices in Prophet.  It is similar to global price update in the inventory control module of Prophet. It is targeted at sites with a large number of special prices, where ranges of prices change frequently.  It can save a considerable amount of time manually updating special prices, as it will apply updates to a whole range of special prices in one session.

Operation

Update Special Prices (USP) is arranged in sessions.   You start new session or template to begin the update.  You can then specify which prices to update by entering values for each of the filters. The amount or value to update by is set, along with the type of update - increase or decrease by percentage or amount, or set to a specific value.  You can save the session settings, and come back to them any number of times before applying them. Once the filters and values are set, selecting Preview allows you to see what special price lines will be affected, and by how much.  You can preview any number of times to be sure your session selections are correct.   When settings are complete, selecting process applies the updates, and reports back which records were changed and by how much.

Example

We have twenty special prices setup for twenty different customers of our widget product.  They are set up as special prices because each customer pays a slightly different price. The price is rising by 10% for all customers.  Run USP, and select Special Price, Increase, 10 percent on existing, select the product code.  Press preview to check that the twenty prices are correctly affected. Press process to activate the updates.

 

Another example. Prophet has 5,000 special prices loaded into Special Pricing. 50 of them relate to product range from  X1 to X2, giving varying prices to different customers. You decide, perhaps on a supplier’s indication, that you want to lift the price that everyone pays by 5%. Currently you would have to go into each special price, calculate the 5% on the existing price to get the new price, and edit the field. With PumperNickel USP module, you specify 5% increase on special prices, enter the start and end stock code, select preview to look at which records will be update, and process to action them.

 

Requirements

Prophet Business Software 2.0 or later.

Prophet Special Pricing module.
Prophet OLE DB driver module. $25 monthly from Attache.
Windows 2000 Professional or Server or XP Professional or 2003 Server.

PumperNickel eCommerce Engine 2.8.0 or later.

Any web browser.

5Mb of additional disk space for PumperNickel USP module files.

Operator

The person to operate the USP module should be the person who usually updates pricing in Prophet. They should be familiar with how special pricing works in Prophet, and how changes made in special pricing are reflected in Order Entry.  They should also understand the company's pricing policies and how they are applied. This person will need to be able to operate a web browser to run USP. 

Prophet

Orders created after the process is complete will reflect the new prices (unless the special price has dates in it). PumperNickel applies the updates in real time, live into Prophet.  Existing orders will not be affected unless you run the Prophet ReCost orders function. This will re-price existing invoices based on current special prices.  USP will run concurrently while other users are in Prophet.
