Automated Integration
PumperNickel is an extension engine to Prophet. It enables Prophet to connect to other companies and software via the internet or local networks.
With this connectivity, it can send and receive invoices and other business documents & forms.
It can also exchange other information, such as customer, supplier and product details.
It does this with a set of rules and triggers, thereby
automating routine process.
Each installation of PumperNickel involves different aspects of business to business connectivity.
PumperNickel uses a number of sophisticated technologies to secure and implement it's features.
These include
- XML (a standard mechanism for encoding data)
- email (for sending and receiving data)
- Web (for command and control, and data transfer)
- XSL (a mechanisim for presenting and transforming
XML)
- PDF Portable document format
- Scheduling
- Database access - Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL,
DBISAM, Foxpro, CSV files
PumperNickel can take proactive action, based on
business rules, and does not totally rely on operators initiating every
action. This enables it to monitor and process routine tasks. PumperNickel
has comprehensive control over Prophet, with import, export, actions and
high speed native data access. It has far superior Prophet access to any
other Prophet application or other older methods such as ODBC & DOS
file transfer. PumperNickel is a new class of
application, widely referred to as "Web
Services". Examples of currently
installed PumperNickel real time applications....
- Moving invoices from Prophet to a remote managed
warehouse
- Moving stock receipt data from remote warehouse
into Prophet stock
- Moving reorders from remote point of sale systems
into Prophet orders
- Moving invoices to head office and back to
branch, for price & customer validation
- Moving invoices from non-Prophet invoicing
systems into Prophet debtors
- Moving products and customers out to
oscommerce
sites, and bringing orders back.
PumperNickel is a self-contained single executable
web server application. No complex support software is required, as the
web, xml and database servers are compiled in to the main executable. It
is written in Delphi.
PumperNickel Software is entirely created, owned and
maintained by McNeill Computers Limited. |
Notes
We have saved a lot of time by integrating invoices electronically. We used to spend half the month entering invoices, and always be behind. Now we can focus on customer satisfaction, rather than administration.
With the current state of the anti-trust trial and Lindows PCs being sold at Walmart, I can't see any possible future for a Microsoft dominated world.
It was such a relief to get this software up and running. Our accounts team were straining at the volume of invoices to deal with. Now PumperNickel is loading 80% of them, we have more time for checking and follow up.
